Maxine C. Lentz, 88, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Peg was born October 31, 1934 in Walbridge, Ohio to Leonard and Velma (Gust) Apel. She was a graduate of Waite High School, class of 1952. On April 11, 1953, she married the love of her life, James Lentz. Peg worked as a window dresser for Tiedtke's and J. C. Penny Department stores during the 1950's. As a young adult, Peg enjoyed playing the accordion at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheater with friends. For over 30 years, Peg worked as a medical assistant for Drs. Imhoff, Diskin, Bringman, and retired from the office of Dr. Mark Naduad in 1988. During her time as a medical assistant, Peg served as president of the Ohio Osteopathic Assistants Association. Peg was a devoted catholic, giving of her time and talents to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Martin Ohio as a Sunday School Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, coordinated funeral dinners, decorated the church for holidays and served communion to home bound church members. In 2015, she was honored by the Toledo Catholic Diocese as Volunteer of the Year. Over the years, Peg and her family enjoyed vacations to Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii and casinos throughout the United States. She enjoyed country music and traveled often with her husband to Wheeling, West Virginia for concerts. Peg will be fondly remembered by her children and grandchildren for her love of cooking; especially her pan fried chicken, meatloaf, carrot cake, and her tasty holiday sugar cookies.
Peg is survived by her daughters, Becky Buffington, Barbara (Patrick) Brocki, and Brenda (Guy) Clough; granddaughters, Holly, Kelly, April, Sara, and Jamie; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and dear friends at the Oregon Senior Center. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and siblings, Marilyn Traxler, Phyllis Brown, and Butch Apel.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1105 N. Elliston Road, Martin, Ohio, where the family will receive friends at 10:00 am. Interment: Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Oregon Senior Center, or Genoa Civic Theatre.
