Melba M. Haas, 89, so close to 90 as she was so looking forward to turn. Born and raised in east Toledo, Melba passed away January 8, 2012 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. She was born January 30, 1922 to Clifford and Anna (Onnenga) Swerking. She was a graduate of Raymer Elementary and Waite High School. Melba was employed as a secretary for the Toledo Public Schools, retiring in 1985. She was a life long member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Christ Dunberger Post #537, Disabled American Veterans Montfaulcon #27 and the AELCW. Surviving are her daughter, Darlene (Terry) Swofford and son, Robert (Debbie) Haas Sr.; grandchildren, Robert (Christa) Haas Jr. and Brandy (Donnie) Busdeker; step grandchildren, Paul and Ronald Swofford and 10 great grandchildren. Melba was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert H. and her parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road from 2-9 pm and where Dunberger Post Services will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am with interment following in Restlawn Memorial Park.
