Obituary

Melvin A. Posadny 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 24. He was born on November 5, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to Anthony and Martha (Kujawa) Posadny. Mel married his loving wife, Evelyn (Mattoni) in 2002. After attending Libbey High School, Mel joined the Army and served two years during the Korean War. He was employed at Doehler Jarvis as a Brick Mason for 44 years. Aside from work, Mel was a friendly handyman to every elderly person in the neighborhood. He was a woodworker and a jack of all trades. He also spent many years preparing spaghetti dinners and fish fry'™s at several VFW Posts. Mel also helped build the Shrine in Oregon. Surviving is his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Christine (Ron) Krzyminski, and Cynthia Rizzo; stepchildren, Butch (Pam), Tonda (Mike), Joe (Cathy), Duke (Nancy), Starr (Scott), John and Flora, his 'œright hand man'; sister, Florence Kruzel, 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his furry friend, Heidi. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; first wife, Anna Mae; infant granddaughter, Julianna and step-son, Chip. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel Sunday September 28 from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. A VFW Post service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at Epiphany of the Lord St. Stephen'™s Parish on Monday September 29 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or Epiphany of the Lord St. Stephen'™s Parish.
