Melvin H. Seymour, 80, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on June 13, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Henry and Vivian (Holden) Seymour on January 24, 1935. Melvin's passion to work began at the age of 15 when he started on the railroad with New York Central. A few years later he married the love of his life Shirley (Billings) on September 15, 1952. He continued to work for Penn Central which later became Conrail. After 30 years of service Melvin retired in 1980. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting wolves, camping at Blue Grass in Swanton, Ohio, traveling and going salmon fishing in Oscoda, MI with his brother-in-law Gene. Most important to Melvin was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; son, Henry (Karleen) Seymour; daughters, Denise (Tim) Young, Terry Mausser (John Ankenbrandt), Candie Carroll; honorary sons, Eric, Terry Tschappatt; grandchildren, Shannon, Dave Seymour, Don Clark, Devon (Wayne) Druckenmiller, Daniel, Noah, Rachel Mausser, JT, Lynzie, Will, Savannah, Anna Carroll; their father, Jerry Carroll; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Penny, Pat, Shirley, Sharon, and Elma. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Melvin's name are asked to consider, Promedica Hospice or Charity of Donor's Choice.
