Merl M. Richie Sr., 88 of Toledo passed away Friday, September1, 2006 in the Perrysburg unit of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Merl was born in Marion, Ohio on January 23, 1918 to Chester and Velma Richie. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Richie was employed as a machinist at Hunt Wesson Foods. He would later work as an engineer for the Perrysburg Chrysler Plant before his retirement. He was very instrumental with the LARC Board and Camp Courageous. He loved model railroading and was a licensed pilot for many years.
Surviving are his sons, Ronnie (Pat) and Bill (Kathy), Merl, Joe (Andrea)and Robert; daughters, Barbra (Bill) Murphy and Sueann Whitworth; sisters, Louise and Patty; brother, Jerry; Loving Friend, Grandma Char; his fishing and boating partner and special grandson, Chad and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Jim and Gary; wives, Altha, Susan and Janet; brothers, Denton, Bob and Ray; sister, Ruth.
There will be no visitation and services will be private. The family wishes to thank everyone at the Perrysburg Hospice Unit and suggests memorial contributions in Merl's memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
