Michael Francis Dombi, 98, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Perrysburg Commons. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 7, 1918 to George and Julia (Orban) Dombi. Michael served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On August 3, 1943, he married Mary Catherine Hager. He went on to be an operating engineer for the C & O Railroad for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Michael was a member of the Eagle's and VFW Post 4906. Michael was a long-time parishioner at Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Michael is survived by his son Michael John (Elizabeth) Dombi; son-in-law, C. Thomas Gruhler; grandchildren: Michael J. (Susan) Dombi, Bryan C. Dombi, Kristin A. Dombi, Matthew I. (Sarah) Gruhler, Patrick J. (Shanna) Gruhler, step-grandchildren: Martin J. Gruhler and C. Thomas Gruhler, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Emery Dombi; former daughter-in-law, Elaine Alexander Dombi; along with many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Catherine; daughter, Marsha Kay Dombi Gruhler; and siblings, Anne, Mary, Julius, William, Velma, Frank, and Julia.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 am in Epiphany of the Lord – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White St., Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 am Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Michael's name are asked to consider Epiphany of the Lord Parish.
