Obituary

Michael W. Hentges, 80, of Oregon, Ohio, died peacefully, October 18, 2023, surrounded by family. Michael was born October 28, 1942, to Ernest and Marge Hentges, of East Toledo, Ohio.

Michael attended Sacred Heart School and was a 1960 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 and was stationed aboard the USS Pawcatuck (AO-108) as a boiler engineer. Michael met the love of his life (and wife), Josephine Dioletti at a high school CYO dance. They were married on June 20, 1964. Michael was employed by Toledo Mercy St Vincent Hospital for 40 years as a painter and boiler engineer. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, Summer family vacations, Hockey, NASCAR, dirt track racing, 1950s music, and, in the 1980s, the musical stylings of Judas Priest. Michael's greatest loves were his wife, children, and grandchildren. After retiring he dedicated all his time to them. Michael was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Holy Rosary (East Toledo) Catholic Church, until closing, and St Ignatius Catholic Community, Oregon, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Dioletti), Parents, Marge and Ernest Hentges, and brother, Ernest Hentges. He is survived by sister, Patricia (Hentges) Burkholder, children, Michael (John Crandall), Andrew (Lori), Connie (Nathan) Hurley, grandchildren Danielle Hentges, Mitchell Hurley, Mason Hurley, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd, Oregon, Ohio, on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Family will also receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Michael's memory are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association or St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the Memory Care Unit nurses and aides at The Landings of Oregon for their loving care and companionship provided over the past three years.
