IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred J "Millie"
Sweet
April 24, 1936 – August 28, 2025
Mildred "Millie" J. Sweet, 89, of Oregon, OH passed away peacefully at Genoa Care Center, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Millie was born in Harlan Co., KY on April 24, 1936 to Rutherford and Betty (Warren) Asher. She was a graduate of Evarts High School, KY in 1954 where she crowned homecoming queen. She traveled to Ohio with her brothers from Kentucky where she met the love of her life, Paul. Millie and Paul married in 1957. Millie started her career in the Owens Corning building as an elevator clerk. She then worked at Riverside Hospital in the medical records department. She attended the former Heritage Christian Church now known as Intersection Church in Oregon for over 30 years.
Millie deeply loved her family and found immense joy in spending time with her great-grandchildren. Their laughter and energy brought light to her days. She had a passion for sewing and loved to tinker, always curious to see what she could create with her hands. The kitchen was another place where Millie's heart shone—she enjoyed baking and canning, often sharing the fruits of her labor with loved ones. Summer was her favorite season, as she relished being outdoors, soaking in the sunshine. In earlier years, some of her fondest memories were made at the old Sun Oil campground, where she spent cherished times with family and friends at the camper. And of course, we can't forget Tuesdays were always a night for Taco Tuesday and margaritas with the ladies!
Surviving are her children, Gregory (Melinda) Sweet, Scott Sweet and Gary Sweet; 6 grandchildren, Julie (Derrick Sattler) Sweet, Amy Rodriguez, Nikki (Andy) Titkemeier, Ashley (David Martin) Sweet, Alisha Egbert, and Taylor Sweet; and 16 great grandchildren; sister, Judith Ann and sister-in-law, Carol Asher. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Sweet; son, Steven Sweet; brothers, Glen, Donald, Ralph, Rutherford Jr.; sisters, Carol and Marian.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5th from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S.
