Mildred E. Thomas, 78 of Martin, Ohio passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at Bay Park Community Hospital. Millie was born in Petersburg, Michigan on December 1, 1930 to Grant and Eunice (Lauer) Smith. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Curtice and was currently a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Martin, Ohio. Millie and her husband were lifelong farmers and she was an avid flower gardener. Millie had worked for Kmart for 10 years and also was a bookkeeper for her husband's business Standard Oil Distributor and her son-in-laws business, Gary Schumaker BP Distributor. Millie served on the Ottawa County Board of Health; a member of the Order of Eastern Stars where she was Past Matron. She was also a member of the Rossford Eagles; Ohio Farm Bureau and the Curtice Hy-Flash Breakfast Club. Surviving are her daughter, Christine (Donald) Schumaker,; son-in-law, Gary Schumaker; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Schnieder, Kirk, Patrick, Michelle Schumaker, Adam Schumaker; great grandchildren, Jillian Schnieder, Clay Schumaker; sister, Betty (Bob) Holey; brother-in-law, Jim Freels; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale L. Thomas Sr; son, Dale L. "Skeet" Thomas Jr; daughter, Sandra K. Schumaker. Friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday from 2-9 p.m... Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Rt. 579, Martin, Ohio and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service.. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mildred's memory are asked to consider the donor's choice.
