Obituary

Nancy L. Gallaher, 89, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg on Sunday, February 5, 2023 with her loving daughters by her side. Nancy was born in Oregon, Ohio, on September 20, 1933, to Clifford and Helen (Thompson) Lanning. Nancy graduated from Clay High School in 1951. Upon graduation she worked at Ohio Bell for seven years. On August 15, 1953 she married James Gallaher, her high school sweetheart. Nancy was a stay at home mom while her daughters were young. She was active in the Mother's Club at Clay Elementary and Clay High School. After her children were grown, she began working as a secretary for the Oregon City Schools, retiring after 20 years. Nancy was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild, the Bereavement Committee and was a member of Rebecca Circle. Nancy was a member of the Oregon Senior Center and also volunteered as an aide in her daughter's classroom with the Toledo Public Schools. In her spare time, Nancy loved to read and be with her friends, but her real and true love was her family. Nancy was a wonderful mother and grandmother and devoted her life to making her family feel special. Her involvement with her family didn't stop as she aged, as she was thrilled to be able to be a part of her eight great grandchildren's lives for the last twelve years. She continued to attend their school events, enjoyed Wednesday night dinners with them and loved rocking her last two babies. Nancy was famous for her ham dinners and carrot cake that were staples at every birthday party.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly & Keith Kwiatkowski, Karen & Don Holmes; grandchildren, Erin (Charles) Popovich, Ashlee (Bill) Fisher, Craig (Katie) Holmes, Eric (Ashley) Holmes; great grandchildren, Rilee & Ella Popovich, Mason & Marcus Fisher, Kenton, Hudson, Wren and Deacon Holmes; sister, Bonnie (Donald) Meier; sisters-in law Wanda (Fred) Rice, Barbara Gallaher, Joyce Gallaher and brother-in law, Ned Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 53 years.
