Nancy embraced eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the age of 74, while surrounded by her family. In 1965 Nancy graduated from Clay High School and then continued her education at University of Toledo with a Bachelors of Education in 1971 and Masters of Education in 1974. For the following 43 years, Nancy dedicated her career assisting mentally handicapped in learning the necessary skills to survive employment. In 2013 she retired to care for her mother, (Sara Jackson) and be active in her grandchildren's' life. During her working years she was also active in her community as a Block Watch captain, served on the board of Heritage South Revitalization, served on the St. James Education School Board and was part of the founding group of woman who created Aurora House as well as serving twice as president of the board. Nancy was a long-time member of Memorial United Church of Christ, being active in spiritual organization within the church as well as being a handbell ringer since the mid 1990's.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Lewis Linkey; son, Michael (Caitlin Kinner) Scott; grandchildren, Aiden and Lindsay Scott; sister, Linda Jackson; step-brother, John Jackson Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Memorial United Church of Christ, Aurora House or St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD, 57326. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, S. Detroit Ave., for the compassionate care they provided to their loved one.
