Nathan A. Gartee, 83, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, January 11, 2011, at Lutheran Home of Toledo, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 19, 1927 to John and Gertrude (Richie) Gartee. Nate served his country during WW II in the Army Air Corp on a B-29 Crew. On December 15, 1947 he married Beverly Binger, who preceded him in death on October 25, 1998. Nate retired in 1992 after 40 years of driving truck for various lumber companies. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Northwood.
Nathan is survived by his children, Nathan D. (Margaret), David K. (Janice), Rickard A. (Susan), Karen Kay (Mitchell) Buck, Debbie Jo (Kenny Griffith) Amstutz, Randy J., Kevin L. (Jane) and Bryon E. (Mary Jane). Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 sister, and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14th from 2:00-9:00 pm at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road and where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and aides at Lutheran Home of Toledo for their care and compassion they gave to Nate throughout his illness.
