Nate passed away on October 17, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Perrysburg, Ohio on December 4, 1939, to Nathan and Doris Cassabon. He graduated from Webster High School, honorably served his country and was employed by the Army National Guard. He had an expansive career over 35 years at Barry Equipment, Holt & Refakis Caterpillar, and ended his working career at the Lucas County Sheriff'™s Office. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying trapshooting, hunting, snowmobiling and participating in his bowling leagues over 40 years. His love of fishing awarded him the best years of his life. He could often be found working on his boat daily to make sure he was ready for the next day'™s anticipated big catch. Nate was a member of the Operating Engineers and often worked on the ships in the Port of Toledo. He loved history and was a fierce challenger in political conversations and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He married his loving wife, Marlene (Boris) on June 25, 1982. They enjoyed traveling, day trips, dining out, casinos and fun times with family and friends. The best part of the day was enjoying their morning coffee on the deck.
Nate is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughters, Teena Greenwood and Angi (Chris) Strait, stepsons, John (Elva) Luda, Patrick Luda, Gregory Luda and Bradley Luda; grandchildren, Samantha, Alexis, Taylor, Alec, Brandon, Madison, Jacque, Shelbie, Brittney, Marissa and Joshua, brother, Ken (Betty) Cassaubon, sisters, Pat (Roy) Lobdell, Dorene Stillwell, sister-in-law, Rosalyn Cassaubon, mother-in-law, Millie Boris, aunt, Marge Sams. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Dan Knorek, Debbie and Gary Krall, Sandy and Bill Heban, Steven and Debbie Boris, Kevin and Jamie Boris, and Kenny and Marsha Boris, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Norman, and his beloved father-in-law, Steve Boris.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will take place in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
