Neil Ronald Burson, 87, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 24, 1935 to Homer and Alice (Broderick) Burson. Neil graduated from Waite High School in 1953 where he excelled in cross-country winning a state title. He received an athletic scholarship from Miami University, where he would obtain his Bachelor's Degree and also placed 7th nationally in cross-country. Neil also married the love of his life his Junior year at Miami, Dorothy (Zieroff) on June 9, 1956. He would work as a teacher at Waite High School as a wood shop and math teacher, molding young adults into the men they are today. He took pride in making sure respect was given and received in his class. Even today, past students would let Neil know how much his life lessons meant to them. During his time at Waite, he coached cross-country, basketball and was the Assistant Athletic Director. Some of Neil's hobbies included, golfing, fishing and bowling, but what he cherished most was the time spent with his loving family. Neil is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; children, Diane (Bob) Schabel, Cindy Burson, Pam (Jim) Mass, Jeff (Cathy) Burson, Bill (Wendy McGaharan); grandchildren, Jason, Jimmy, Joel, Julie, Tyler, Jared, Jamey, Wade, Amanda; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Brett; and siblings, Richard Burson and Charlotte Lane. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel 440 S. Coy Road Friday, July 1, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The family will also greet friends at Mainstreet Church: 795 Campus, 5465 Moline-Martin Rd., Walbridge, Ohio, 43465 on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
