Neil A. Eckman, 79, of Millbury, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Neil was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 6, 1938 to Leo and Florence "Sally" (Fry) Eckman. Neil graduated from Olney High School in 1957. He was a bricklayer for Local #3 in Toledo for many years, before retiring in 1995. He was also a member of the Masons, Shriners and Scottish Rites.
In his earlier years, he was a Boy Scout leader for Troop #63 in Moline, Ohio, volunteered as a firefighter in Northwood and was a member and past president of the Lakeland Conservation Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and umpired and played softball and baseball. Most recently, he enjoyed going to breakfast, wild game dinners and watching television with his faithful Canine Companion, "Bud".
Neil is survived by his children, Lee (Jodi) Eckman, Eric Eckman, Laurie (Marty) Koch and Lynn (David) Fulford; grandchildren, Leah (Jonathon) Niese, Devon Eckman, Dylon Eckman, Kruiz Lorenc, Diamond Lorenc, Maloree Fulford and Peyton Fulford; 5 great-grandchildren; and former wife, Bonnie Cornelius. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry Eckman.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 25 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Wood County Humane Society.
