Obituary

Nicholas L. Romano Sr.,80, of Oregon passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Orchard Villa. Mr. Romano was born in the Birmingham Area on December 30, 1930 to Patrick and Theresa Romano. He was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas grade school and attended both Central Catholic and Macomber High Schools. In 1948 he was selected to the All City League Basketball team. Nicholas was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corp before entering the Air Force during the Korean Confict. After his discharge he went to work at the Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Romano also operated his own television repair business. He was a member of Arthur Daly American Legion Post. Surviving are his wife, Gloria (Gaeth); sons, Dennis of McDonald, PA, Nicholas Jr. (Theresa) of Oregon. Scot (Deborah) of Curtice; daughter, Betsy Ann (Kenneth) Rossler of Curtice; brothers, Joseph (Joanne) of Oregon, Patrick (Inez) of Northwille, MI; grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Allison, Stephanie, Andrea, Danae, Derek, Jamie, Laura, Alysia, Fasi, Fehoko, Tupou, Mele, and Stacey Oliver; great grandsons, Tristin and Mickey; great granddaughters, Tupou and Mele. Mr. Romano would like to thank his friends, Ray Heuring, Bob O'™Shea, Trish and Len Puclicki, Mary Wuest for their help planning the school reunion. Friends may call in the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday from 2 to 8 pm with scripture services at 7:00 pm. The Rite of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Ignatius Catholic Church where the family will receive visitors one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Nick'™s memory can be made to St. Jude'™s Children Hospital or St. Ignatius Church. The family would like to thank everyone at Orchard Villa for the loving care of Nicholas during his stays.
