Noreida C. Shaheen, 90, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1935 in Palma Soriano, Cuba to Kamel and Maria (Arafet) Cadre. She attended a Catholic boarding school, Hitas De Maria & Instituto Santiago. Noreida emigrated to the USA in June 1, 1958 to continue her education at the University of Toledo. She married Rushdey O. Shaheen on November 9, 1958 and on August 9, 1959 her beloved son was born. In 1963 she was hired by First National Bank of Toledo as a bilingual secretary and in 1984 was promoted to assistant VP. In 1986 she was hired by the International Department of Toledo Trust as an International Administrator in charge of export and import letters of credit. In 1990 Mid Am Bank recruited her to help start an International Department, in 1991 was promoted to VP in charge of the International Operations. Noreida retired in 1997. She was a member of the International Credit Group, TAITA (Toledo Area International Trade Association). She was also a board member of the International Institute. Noreida was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church where she volunteered as communion minister of nursing homes, funeral luncheons, and member of the grief group. In 1995 and on behalf of Mid Am Bank, International Department, she received the government award for promoting export in the State of Ohio. Noreida was always helping others, since 1979 she had traveled 19 times to Cuba, each time taking several packages with clothes and shoes for their family. After she could no longer travel to Cuba, she continued to help her family financially. What she cherished most was being with her beloved grandchildren, Nick and Beka.
She is survived by her beloved son, Rushdey K. (Wendy) Shaheen; grandson, Nick (Julia) Shaheen; granddaughter, Beka (Kenton Parker) Shaheen; godson, Rene (Nely) Aldrich; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rushdey; infant daughter, Vivian; and sister, Nasibe (Robert) Giblin.
Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. The family will process to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd., Oregon, Ohio, for Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon immediately following mass in the Life Center at St. Ignatius. Inurnment will remain private at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Noreida's name may be directed to St. Louis Helping Hands.
