Norman N. DeCant, 73, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away December 18, 2002 in his home. He was born on May 21, 1929 to Richard and Virginia (Cutcher) DeCant. Norman attended Clay High School, and was employed at LOF in Rossford for 33 1/2 years in maintenance and the pipe shop, retiring in 1978. For the past 10 years he was employed at the Sunshine Childrens Home in Maumee. Norman was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ and enjoyed camping and traveling.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Arlene; children, David DeCant, Oregon, OH,Cindy DeCant, Long Beach, CA, Gary (Sharon) DeCant, Northwood, OH, Jeffrey Decant, Oregon, OH; brothers, Earl (Donna) DeCant, Mesa, AZ and Fred (Nita)DeCant, Mesa, AZ; sister, Anna Virginia Fisher, Northwood, OH; grandchildren, Kimberly,Holly, Shane, Jessica, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Shannon, ShyLah; great-grandchildren, Kelsee, Kaylee, Kevin, Austin, Shawn, Jimmy, Haile, Taylor and many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by is parents; brothers, Chester, Lambert, Richard, Roy and Donald DeCant.
A memorial service will be held at Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Friday, December 27, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Memorials in Normans honor may be made to Memorial United Church of Christ.
The family would like to thank Normans co-workers at Sunshine for their overwhelming generosity, support and kindness, and the staff at Bay Park Hospital for their care.
