Opal Osborne, 83, of Toledo, and Maumee, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 6, 2017. She grew up in Grandy, Virginia, one of 8 children of which one survives, Gaye of North Carolina. She was the mother of Mike (Karen) and Brian (Debe) as well as grandma to Tiffany, Whittney, Michael, Tim, Tara, Brittany, Samantha, Jessica and Andy. She was also great-grandma to 12.
She was preceded in death by two infant daughters; her husband of almost 50 years, Harold; granddaughter, Jessie; step-son, Ralph; siblings, Polly, Hassel, Clyde, Tommy, Trula, Ed; pets, Fifi Thunder and Seymore the groundhog who she raised with Harold.
She retired from the Riverview Inn, downtown, where she ran the front desk for many years. She also worked at the Commodore Perry Inn. She belonged to the ladies railroad auxiliary for many years where she made lifelong friends. Her favorite pastimes were camping all over the U.S., flower gardening, her favorite shows, NCIS, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and of courser NASCAR.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday in the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Opal's memory are asked to consider her family. The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their caring services and also the staff at Wolf Creek for taking care of Opal the last year and a half. Avery special thanks to her neighbor and friend, Debbie Hancock for all her help she has given Opal and her family for years. You've been an angel.
