Opal E. Skiles Amsler Raymond, 93 of Curtice, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Genoa Care Center. Opal was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 3, 1924 to Frank and Lydia (Nungester) Krieg. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Burl Skiles, Fred Amsler and Carroll Raymond. Opal had worked for the Sacred Heart Home, Little Sisters of the Poor as a dietitian; she also worked for Gladieux Catering. Her most important were her children and grandchildren. Raising her own children and three grandchildren. Opal was "Granny" to everyone, and was known especially for her pies, cakes and her famous cinnamon rolls. Opal was a longtime member of Bono Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Dunberger Post, PRI, Gulf Retirees, and St. Charles Senior Advantage.
Surviving are her children, Estella (John) Foster, Shirley (John) Sullivan, Jean (Jim) Blachowski, Burl (Lucy) Skiles, Clifford F. (Cassandra) Skiles, Glen Skiles; 27 grandchildren, 63 great- grandchildren, 37 great-great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-great grandchildren; yes, 132 grandchildren in total, which she was proud and loved everyone of them!
In addition to her husbands Opal was preceded in death by her daughters, Anna Mercer and Opal Skiles; son, Louis Skiles; grandchildren, Brandy Williams and Clifford Skiles.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 1-7 pm and where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's choice.
