Orval H. Deain, 98, formerly of Holland, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Aspen Grove Assisted Living, Lambertville, MI. Orval was born in Louisville, IL on March 24, 1910, to Lafe and Rachael (Myers) Deain and was a graduate of Louisville High School. Before coming to Toledo in 1942, he managed a Five and Dime Store in Flora, IL. He was employed as a switchman for over 30 years by the former B& O Railroad before his retirement in 1974. Mr. Deain was a long time member of Clark Street United Methodist Church, Paragon Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Zenobia Shrine. Orval was the oldest living past master of the former Port Lawrence Lodge. Preceding him in death were his wives, Cordelia Schuler and Phoebe Houlton. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, Coy Road at Starr Avenue, where visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. Paragon Lodge services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, IL with visitation prior to the services in the Held Funeral Home in Louisville from 11 to 1:00. Memorial contributions in Orval's memory may be made to either Shrine Hospitals, Clark Street United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
