It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia M. Hornyak, 82, of Oregon, Ohio, on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Gardens of St. Francis, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Patricia was born on February 4, 1942 to Paul and Lola (Kovesdi) Zam in Toledo, Ohio.
She was a homemaker for many years before working at Front Variety and then at National Family Opinion (NFO) for 20 years. Pat was a faithful member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, coloring, word search puzzles, crafts, and spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, family and friends. Everyone who knew her said she was the sweetest and strongest woman they ever met. She never complained and took everything in stride. She handled everything that came at her with grace and dignity. She was a true example of determination and she leaned on her faith to help get her through.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (John) Perlaky; grandchildren, Spencer (Emily), Logan (Maegan), Brandi, Brittany, Brooke, Josh (Olivia), Jared; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Barb Sanford, Joe (Darcy) Zam, Yolie (Ken) Irwin; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Hornyak, Jr.; brother, Paul Zam, Jr.; sister, Pauline "Peewee" Demko; mother-in-law, Julia Hornyak; and brother-in-law, Emery (Connie) Hornyak.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, OH, 43616 on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with saying of the rosary at 5:30 p.m. An additional hour of visitation will be held at Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Stephens Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the start of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Patricia's name may be directed to Gardens of St. Francis, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or the American Cancer Society.
Pat's family would like to give a special thank you to all the employees at the Gardens of St. Francis who loved her and became her family over the years, from the nurses, aides, kitchen workers and everyone in between. Pat's family would also like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for helping to take care of her in her final months.
