Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia M. Hornyak, 82, of Oregon, Ohio, on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Gardens of St. Francis, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Patricia was born on February 4, 1942 to Paul and Lola (Kovesdi) Zam in Toledo, Ohio.

She was a homemaker for many years before working at Front Variety and then at National Family Opinion (NFO) for 20 years. Pat was a faithful member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. She enjoyed bingo, coloring, word search puzzles, crafts, and spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, family and friends. Everyone who knew her said she was the sweetest and strongest woman they ever met. She never complained and took everything in stride. She handled everything that came at her with grace and dignity. She was a true example of determination and she leaned on her faith to help get her through.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (John) Perlaky; grandchildren, Spencer (Emily), Logan (Maegan), Brandi, Brittany, Brooke, Josh (Olivia), Jared; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Barb Sanford, Joe (Darcy) Zam, Yolie (Ken) Irwin; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Hornyak, Jr.; brother, Paul Zam, Jr.; sister, Pauline "Peewee" Demko; mother-in-law, Julia Hornyak; and brother-in-law, Emery (Connie) Hornyak.
