IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul L.
Hammye
October 7, 1941 – October 25, 2023
Paul Hammye, 82, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 after fighting a long, courageous battle from a long term illness. It was a fight well-fought. He has gone on to his eternal home with the Lord and is now reunited with his son, Patrick, soul-mate Maureen (Ward) as well as his sister, Susan, parents and many other loved ones who have gone before him. Paul was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 7, 1941 to the late Paul Vaughn Hammye and Zara Rose (Cullers) Hammye. Paul worked at Dana Corp. as a machinist for many years. When they began to downsize (and ulitmately close), he was laid off. Paul then went to work for Hunt-Wesson as a forklift operator where he later retired. Paul was a 1959 graduate from Whitmer High School. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served our country just as most of the men proudly did in his family. Patriotism ran strong in his family as his father had been a P.O.W. in WW II.
Paul was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His love and dedication to his family was easily seen; especially with the care he gave to his son, Patrick. It was a true testament to the father and man that he was. Paul and his wife, Maureen, also raised two daughters, Debbie and Jane Marie. Together the family enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends. After his wife, Maureen, passed in 2009, Paul was blessed to meet another very caring and loving woman, Leone Ferrigan. She has been a very important part of his life as well as his daughters' for over 10 years. Paul leaves behind his daughters, Debbie (Gino) Duran and Jane Marie Poindexter, grandchildren Justin (Christine) Weis and Elizabeth (Michael) McPherson, great-grandchildren; Hailey, Cassie, Richard, Samantha, Lillian, Victoria (Tori) and Mikey, brothers: Vaughn (Dena), Chris, Keith (Sandy) and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston, Meinert and Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Paul's wishes were to be cremated and placed on his wife's grave. Paul will have a military graveside service at a date to be determined.
