Obituary

Paul R. Maunz, 73 of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 3, 2020. Paul was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 20, 1946 to Joseph and Gladys (Lomas) Maunz. Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran and had retired from the Ford Motor Company. Paul loved going to the Oregon and East Toledo Senior Centers, watching movies, listening to his favorite musicians such as; Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, The Beatles and Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes, and would always bet on the O.S.U/Michigan football game and would never miss an opportunity to bask in his victories. Paul was an avid reader, he enjoyed showing his competitive side playing trivia, loved spending time with his family whether it was enjoying a cook-out, spending time outside on his deck, and always looked for every opportunity at family gatherings to play cards, especially euchre. (We never could figure out how he always managed to deal himself a loaner hand). Paul was extremely hard working and always made sure he provided for his family. He enjoyed taking family vacations with time spent at various Ohio State Parks. Paul also enjoyed a long history of coaching soccer, softball and basketball all throughout his children's lives, even coming out of his coaching retirement to help coach his grandchildren and often helped his children as an assistant coach. Paul loved talking on the phone to his friends and family, sharing stories and loved joking around with others around him. Surviving are his children, Keith ( Kathy), Amy (Mack) Bernard, Mary Jo Schweizer, Laura Hoehner, Kimberly (Kristoffer) Krupitzer, Joe (Kate), Paul "PK"; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; brother, Ken (Karen) and former wife Barbara Maunz. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cindy. The family will be welcoming friends and family for a celebration of his life at Macomber Lodge, Pearson Park, 4701 Navarre Ave on Sunday August 9 from 12-4, with words of love expressed at 3. All visitors are required to wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation on his behalf to the Oregon Senior Center or the East Toledo Senior Center. Inurnment will be held at Toledo Memorial Park at a later date.
