Paul E. Okey, 54, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2021 after a courageous battle at Magruder Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 19, 1966 to Marvin and Betty (Crawford) Okey. Paul graduated from Roy C. Start High School and a few years later would marry the love of his life and best friend Virginia "Kina" (Buenrostro) on July 13, 1991. Paul worked as a bus driver for the YMCA. Over his time there he impacted a countless number of young kids in the community who always remained dear to him. He was the kind of guy that was a "dad" to so many children. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and made sure to always watch his run of shows including but not limited to, Jerry Springer, The Price is Right, Family Feud and the Bachelor. Paul always enjoyed his time golfing with his boys, but what he cherished most was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids. Paul was a kind soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kina; children, Lance (Angie) Okey, Justice "Bubba" (Maddy Cousino) , Blaze and Brei; mother, Betty; grandchildren, Landon, Lleyton, Charlie, Miles, Camryn; sister, Tammy Okey; brother, Jason Okey; and many nieces, nephews and loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, James Okey.
Family and friends may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 South Coy Road on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Paul's sister-in-law Rebecca, who gave him life by donating her kidney, relieving him of his dialysis for 14 years. This gift made it possible for Paul to enjoy his time with his family who will never forget what she did for him.
