Paul R. Scherf, 60, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008, in Flower Hospital. Mr. Scherf was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 18, 1947, to Paul H. and Virginia (Sturtz) Scherf. He was a 1965 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. Paul was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. He was employed for over 35 years as a heavy equipment operator/ driver for Henry W. Bergman Inc. Mr. Scherf had also worked as a semi driver and enjoyed delivering the Blade Newspaper to his loyal customers in Oregon. Paul was a member of St. Ignatius Church. He loved hunting and training his Labrador Retrievers and when not traveling enjoyed reading, books on tape and solving puzzles. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Lynn; sons, Samuel Richard (Kelly), Joseph Donald (Tonya) and Paul Nicholas Scherf; daughter, Deborah Susan (Brendan) Collins; brothers, Bruce and Herbert Scherf; sisters, Carol McCormick, Susan Johnson and Virginia Eby, and grandchildren, Franklin and Vincent Collins, Samuel Joseph and Leah Scherf. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Thursday, March 13th from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Paul's memory may be made to St. Judes Hospital or the Oregon Branch Library. Visitation: Thursday, March 13 2-9 p.m. Services: Friday, March 14 11 a.m.
