Paul Joseph Wachowiak Sr., 80, of Oregon Ohio, passed from this life into the arms of the Lord, on December 22, 2020. Paul was born on March 19, 1940, to Irvin and Helen (Manuszak) Wachowiak. He grew up in the Lagrange Street Neighborhood of Toledo and was very proud of his Polish Heritage. He was a member of St. Hedwig's Parish. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958 and then obtained a business degree from Davis College. He served in the Army Reserve as a tank operator. Paul married his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Ann Baumgartner, on May 9, 1964. He worked at General Mills for 30 years as a dock supervisor. He had a great love for his family and friends. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. He had a certain glow of pride on his face when amongst family, especially his son and daughter whom he adored. He had a soft, gentle smile that made you feel at ease. He was described as a gentle giant, an easy going soul, and his wit brought smiles and laughter. Throughout years of Health Issues for he and his wife, he had a great appreciation for the sacrifice and care his wife provided him. Paul bowled for 50 years at Jugg's Bowling Alley. He bowled his perfect game on Feb. 27, 2010. He had a special place in heart for Silver Lake in the Irish Hills of Michigan, where he and Dorothy spent 55 yrs. enjoying their summer place and making lifelong friends. Paul loved his quiet time reading, doing crosswords, making puzzles, and watching tv, especially sports. He was a Detroit Tigers, Pistons, and Lions Fan. Paul had a love for food, he enjoyed a nice meal. His Family is grateful for many wonderful years with him.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Paul (Carrie) Wachowiak Jr.; daughter, Christie (Bill) Nagy; grandsons, William and Joshua Nagy; granddaughters, Madison and Sophie Wachowiak; and best friends, Larry Witt and Norm Ostrowski. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Irvin John; sister, Barbara Alten; and brother-in-law, Russell Alten. A Memorial Service for Paul will be held at a later date.
