IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paula Kristine (Ferrell)
Kralovic
August 31, 1952 – February 22, 2024
Paula Kristine Ferrell Kralovic, born August 31, 1952 to Pauline Taylor Ferrell and Ivan Ferrell in Portsmouth, VA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her adoring family, with the assistance of Heartland Hospice. Paula was 71 years young; she had spunk, style, and sass and she lived a very full life.
Paula relocated to Toledo at the age of four and made it her home. In 1971, she graduated from Waite High where she met and fell in love with Jan Kralovic. Paula and Jan married on July 20, 1973 and they welcomed their daughter Stacey Erica Kralovic into the world in May of 1976. Paula and Jan just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party surrounded by friends and family at Gideon Owen in Catawba in honor of their commitment to one another and their family.
Paula's full life granted her the opportunity to be surrounded by the people she loved and she kept herself busy with many hobbies. On a clear summer day, Paula was always game to head out to Lake Erie on the boat with her husband, Jan, where the two of them would have competitions to see who caught the most and the biggest fish; Paula always won…even though her husband did the baiting.
As long as Paula was with family and friends, she was up for an adventure. One of her favorite past times was getting in the car with her daughter for a drive to Catawba or Ann Arbor that most often involved shopping and supporting local boutiques, pampering herself with a fresh mani, and indulging in quality cuisines at places like Jolly Rogers and the Orchard on Catawba, her favorites. Paula had great taste and felt at home discovering new finds and sharing them with family and friends.
To say Paula was lucky would be an understatement when it came to gambling; no matter the casino, she'd sit down and start playing the slots and keep winning. She made winning look like an art to onlookers and her celebratory smile was contagious.
The Kralovic family has a steeped familial love for cooking/baking and they cater to friends, family, and the Toledo community like professionals. Most of the Kralovic family's ingredients come directly from their backyard garden and flower oasis; local farm-to-table at its best. To say Paula had a green thumb would be an understatement. Her flowerpots were so large and beautiful rivaling any greenhouse. After the close of summer, the Kralovic family cans vegetables, like their infamous salsa and Roma tomatoes, to be gifted throughout the holidays. If canning vegetables wasn't enough, the Kralovic family elves always celebrate the holidays with extravagant baked goods…nut rolls, macaroons, buckeyes and other goodies at Christmas and then decorated homemade red velvet cupcakes and cutouts with hearts on Valentine's Day. Paula's favorite holiday by far, however, was Halloween. She decked the outside of the house into a haunted wonderland with a 12-foot witch who spooked visitors by talking to them, accompanied by another three witches stirring their cauldron with lights and foggers, while ghosts swung in the trees. The Kralovic family abode was, hands-down, the house to visit for Halloween trick or treat; all who entered were in for an unparalleled show, welcomed conversations, and some of the world's best candy.
When referencing family, we would be remiss not to mention Paula's canine companions who she absolutely adored and they her. Paula's pampered pets include the following over the years: Daisy Mae, Freckles, Sheba, Sadie, Sammie, Binky Boo Boo, Mitzy, and Gracie and her grand dog Stella.
To know Paula Kralovic was to love her and we think it's safe to say that she and blue eyes himself were kindred spirits in that she too mirrored his sentiments to the very end: I've lived a life that's full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more, I did it; I did it my way. Take a moment and say a prayer to toast Paula's life and the memories shared. Paula Kristine Ferrell Kralovic, your family and friends love and miss you daily and we thank you for leaving us with your legacy!
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Taylor Ling (Mother) and Charles Homer Ling (Father), Teresa Ellen White (Sister), John Kralovic (Father in Law), Dorothy Kralovic (Mother in Law), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jan Christopher Kralovic, her daughter, Stacey Erica Kralovic, her father, Ivan Ferrell, many family members and friends, and her beloved pooches, Gracie, her pride and joy, and Stella-la-la, her grand dog.
