Pedro Ruiz, 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home. He was born in San Antonio, TX, on May 19, 1924, to loving parents, Florentino and Rufina (Cadena) Ruiz. He was employed with Jeep for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Pedro was an avid fan of WWF, boxing, the Oakland Raiders and Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, dancing, Tejano music, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. After retirement, Pedro volunteered as a reading tutor, retired senior volunteer patrol, Meals on Wheels, and local Masonic Lodge. Pedro is survived by his children, Rodolpho (Consuelo) Flores, Antonio, Peggy (Joseph Campos), Beatrice, and Angela (Mark) Tremmel and Maria Ruiz-Burgess; 22 grandchildren; 63 great- grandchildren, and 23 great- great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria V. Ruiz; sons, Ruben and Ernest; sisters, Petra Vasquez, Lenora Torres, and grandson, John V. Flores. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 South Coy Road, Oregon, Wednesday, August 19th from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, August 20th, and proceed to Solid Rock Assembly of God, 4058 Starr Ave., for the funeral service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Odyssey Hospice or the American Diabetes Association .
