Peter E. Pirolli, 60, of Rossford, Ohio peacefully drifted away from this life March 30, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. This was not the ending Pete had envisioned for himself. His primary life-long goal was to enjoy his retirement. He did accomplish retiring in June 2007 having worked 38 years as a longshoreman for CSX docks. Unfortunately, he did not get to enjoy it. The lung cancer that he died from, was diagnosed 3 months before his retirement. He approached this setback stubbornly, determined the cancer was not going to take over his life and did a valiant job of undergoing aggressive treatment that in the end, was not enough. He graduated from Waite in 1966 and served his country in the Army in Germany. Pete has enjoyed driving his '64 Corvette Convertible to classic car shows; he delighted in being a snow bird and fishing while at his Florida winter home. He even built a tunnel boat which he used at his cottage at Sand Lake in Michigan. He will be missed by his devoted wife of 29 years, Sally; stepson, Jay Williams and grandson, Jayson Williams of Sacramento, California; his sister, Carolyn (Rollin) LaCourse; nephew, Todd (Leigh Ann) Bringman and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Violet Pirolli. Family and friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 2 until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Pete's family wishes to thank his doctors, St. Charles/Mercy Hospital staff, as well as the Northwest Ohio Hospice staff for their compassion and care during this difficult time.
