Phillip M. Bachmayer, 86, of Northwood, Ohio passed away January 5, 2009, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 24, 1922, to Joseph and Agnes (Fink) Bachmayer. Phil was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He had been employed as a machinist at Save Electric, Toledo Scale and Stanley Machining. Phil enjoyed woodworking and building houses with his father, brothers and friends. He loved to go Polka dancing with his wife, Ruby. Phil was always busy with coin or stamp collecting, reading or telescoping with the telescope he built himself. He enjoyed boating and hand built kayaks and sailboats with his sons. Phil enjoyed gardening. Most of all he loved his family. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby; children, Sheila M. (Herb) Renfer, James (Carla) and David (Tina) Bachmayer; grandchildren, Melissa (Robert) Shields, Matthew (Heather) Renfer, Christopher (Heather) Bachmayer, Michael (Natasha) Bachmayer, Eric (Andrea) Bachmayer, Andrea, Dustin and Brandon Bachmayer; great- grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Trenton, Addison, Katelyn and Alec; sister, Helen McGee; brothers, Carl (Janet) and Richard Bachmayer; sister-in-law, Marcella Davis. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; great- grandchildren, Jessica and Ethan Bachmayer; brothers, Joseph and John Bachmayer; sisters-in-law, Kay and Eleanor Bachmayer and brother-in-law, Bud McGee. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. with a Scripture service at 8:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
