Phyllis J. Harpel, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully July 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was born in Toledo, Ohio April 19, 1931 to Harold and Ruth (Hartranft) Kansorka. For 33 years, Phyllis worked as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell, retiring in 1988. Her memberships included: St. Mark Lutheran Church, Communication Workers of America, Telephone Pioneers of America, East Toledo Senior Center, and the Red Hat Society. Phyllis enjoyed monthly lunches and bus trips with her Fassett Street Group for over 50 years, playing cards, visiting her favorite casinos, watching ice skating, and Lawrence Welk.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Kevin (Lori) Harpel; grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Harpel, Christopher Harpel, Julie (Greg) Seeger, Eric (Amanda) Harpel, Jackie Harpel (Brandon), and Erica Szegedi; great-grandchildren, Leam, Bryn, Trig, Mira, and Crew; sister, Nanci (Russ) Burghardt; along with many loving family members. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; son, Eric; brother, Bill Kansorka; and sister, Alice Sutphin.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 9:30 am until funeral service at 12:30 pm. Interment: Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the East Toledo Senior Center.
