Obituary

Ralph Gustave Vogtsberger, 94 of Northwood, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Genoa Care Center. Ralph was born in Curtice, Ohio on May 1, 1924 to Gustave and Silvia (Guenldenzoph) Vogtsberger. He was a 1943 graduate of Genoa High School. On February 23, 1946 he married Ethel Mae (Chandler), who preceded him in death on March 20, 2018. He was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and was on the church council. Ralph and his wife farmed several hundred acres and he also retired from American Ship Building after 31 years of service. Ralph and his wife enjoyed traveling, on their 50th anniversary they took a Mediterranean Cruise; they have also traveled all over the world. Ralph and his wife also belonged to camping groups the Black Swamp Allegros and Rain Makers. He was also a 4H advisor and a Boy Scout leader. He and Ethel Mae wintered in Texas for 21 years. The most important things in his life were his wife of 72 years and family. Ralph enjoyed playing on St. John's Lutheran Church's dart ball team and bowling league. Ralph is survived by children, Dennis (Linda) Vogtsberger, Kay (John) Laugerman, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Vogtsberger; son-in-law, Richard (Jane) Phillips ; grandchildren, Carrie, Matthew, Kelly, Jessica, Jennifer, Kim, Brad, Brian, Theresa, Shannon, Brooke; 16 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one great grandson on the way. In addition to his wife, Ethel Mae, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Larry and his daughter, Janet Phillips; and brother, Elmer. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where his funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am . Interment will follow at Williston Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Ralph's memory are asked to consider Wild Skies Raptor Center, P.O.
