Ramiro "Ray" Alvarez Sr., 73, passed away July 18, 2009 in his home. He was born in Raymondville, Texas on February 23, 1936 to Primitivo and Stefana (Rodriguez) Alvarez. Ray was employed at Dohler-Jarvis as a forklift operator for 33 years until 2000, and then he worked at the Chrysler Training Center. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed attending the Mexican Festivals.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Erminia; sons, Ramiro Jr. (Elizabeth), Hector Sr. (Rose), Richard Sr. (Diana), Ray (Kris) and Roy (Polly) Alvarez; daughters, Linda (Eleodoro C.) Martinez and Lydia (Al) Lopez; brother, Raul (Teresa) Alvarez; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; grandsons, Richard Jr. and Devin Jordan Alvarez.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. and proceed to Sts. Peter & Paul Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alvarez family.
