IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramona Kay (Starr)
Johns
August 15, 1940 – September 1, 2025
Our "mom" Ramona "Kay" Starr Johns, slipped away from the loving hands of her daughters, Debbie, Dawn and Diane, Monday, September 1, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Ramona was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, August 15, 1940, to Francis "Jake" W. and Virginia D. (Lahman) Starr. She was a 1958 graduate of the former Webster High School (now Eastwood). On January 31, 1959, Kay married Reed C. Johns and were married 53 years until his passing in 2012. Kay raised her three daughters in Millbury, as Kay stayed home overseeing her family's daily needs.
Kay and Reed shared a love for antique car shows, proudly showcasing their many Cadillacs and classic vehicles over the years. Together, they also attended numerous tractor shows, displaying Reed's collection of antique tractors. Another passion they enjoyed was traveling the country on their Gold Wing motorcycle, exploring the United States alongside a close-knit group of friends. Kay was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Millbury, where she served faithfully on various committees throughout the years. Following Reed's passing in 2012, Kay found joy in new adventures. She often visited the Hollywood Casinos in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Toledo, accompanied by her dear friend and companion, Denny Schwamberger. The two also enjoyed dining out and spending time together at local restaurants over the past several years. Above all, Kay cherished her family. She often said, "Family is everything," and truly lived by those words. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and made lasting memories with all who were dear to her.
Kay leaves behind the undying love of her daughters, Debbie Proffitt, Dawn (Gary) Blausey, and Diane (Dave) Stegeman; grandchildren, Dustin Proffitt, Brittney (Paul) Culbertson, Terrell (Giselle Hunt) West, Sevario and Serenity Proffitt, Kyle (Allison) Rublaitus, and Jordan Blausey; great grandchildren she called "precious babies" Nevaeh and Londyn Culbertson, Terraya West, and Colton, Sophie, and Ellie Rublaitus, as well as her nephews, nieces, and "special" niece, Jenny (Sheets) Lahman, and nephew, Bill Sheets Jr.; and sister-in-law, Dianna Starr. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reed; along with her brother William, twin brother Ramon Starr, and sister, Sara Sheets
Kay's daughters would like to extend a special thank you to Lake Township Fire and Rescue and Lake Township Police, for their response and aid given to their mom when she fell ill at her home; along with the expert care Kay received at Promedica Bay Park Hospital and Toledo Promedica Hospital. Her final weeks were under hospice care at The Manor of Perrysburg. We are grateful for the kindness showed to her and her entire family during this unspeakable sorrow. She leaves a huge void, "we" will always love and cherish you!
