Randy Oberlin passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at St. Charles Hospital. Born June 25, 1951 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was the son of Clayton and Betty Oberlin. He graduated from Waite High School in 1969 and then attended University of Toledo. He worked for Vroman Foods and later with the Ford Stamping Plant in Maumee for thirty years, retiring as an electrician. He was a lover of comic books and artistic crafts, as well as an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Ohio State football, and will be remembered for his eternal optimism that the Detroit Lions might finally have a great season.
He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and softball, as well as basketball teams of his children. He was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Randy is survived by Linda (Akers) Oberlin; children, Shauna (Tom) Orr, Lance Oberlin and Lauren Oberlin; brother, Dean (Marilyn) Oberlin; grandchildren, Joshua Oberlin, Caitlin and Jacob Orr; niece, Jennifer (Ben) Fording; and great-nephew, Aiden Fording. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Betty Oberlin.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, January 10 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
