Raul Sotelo Sr., 79, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on September 24, 2004, in his home. He was born on April 14, 1925, in San Antonio, TX, to Donato and Jesusa (Hernandez) Sotelo. Raul was employed as a machinist with Mather Metal for 18 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of VFW Post 2510. Raul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, enjoying camping and traveling. He was a very giving person and loved being around people. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pauline; children, Linda (Julian) Castro, Jesusa Duarte and Raul Sotelo Jr.; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephew, Nora Garza, Olga Pacheco and Eralio Sotelo. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, on Monday from 3-9 p.m. with VFW services at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church. Entombment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the VFW Post 2510.
