Raymond R. DeCant, 56, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born on January 10, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio to Lambert and Lucille (Romstadt) DeCant. Raymond was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War where he was awarded a bronze star medal. He was employed by Jeep as a millwright for 37 years before retiring in 2004. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman, a very skilled craftsman and enjoyed Harley's and John Deere tractors. He also loved animals, especially puppy and kitty.
Surviving is his mother, Lucille DeCant; daughter, Janette (Mike) O'Connor; son, Joseph DeCant; grandchildren, Katheryn, Michael and Sean; sister, Carol (Loren) Kline; brother, Robert DeCant and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Lambert and sister, Mary Ann DeCant. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Friends and family may visit from 2 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Humane Society.
