Remigio V. Ramirez, 96, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Edcouch, Texas on October 4, 1929 to Martin and Georgia (Villarreal) Ramirez. Remigio's work ethic started as a young boy working with his father in the fields. On July 18, 1954 he married the love of his life, Martha (Vaiz) who preceded him in death. He moved to Toledo and worked for what would become, Northfolk Western for 44 years before his retirement. Remigio loved watching soccer, horse racing, but his favorite was boxing. His family remembers the Friday Night Fights with Muhammad Ali and Julio Cesar Chavez. He enjoyed listening to Mexican Music, eating apple pies, chips, cookies and chili dogs. Many of the stories that Remigio would tell involved remembering the days on the Railroad and working hard with his brother, but what he cherished most is his loving family.

He is survived by his children, Yolanda Gomez, Ed Ramirez, Irene (Tom) Ramirez, Ramiro (Irene) Ramirez; grandchildren, Lydia (Robert), Mario (Danielle), Alicia (Robert), Alejandro (Azia), Steve (Hannah), Jessica (Chad); 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Manuela (Iganicio) Garcia, Ninfa Orozco and many nieces nephews and family members.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Homes, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
