Obituary

Rev. Dewey Dabney, 84, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perryburg Inpatient Unit. Dewey was born in Turley, Tennessee on June 1, 1924, to Dewey and Manda (Duncan) Dabney. Dewey served in Patton's Third Army during World War II where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was employed for over 30 years at Nabisco as an oiler before his retirement in 1985. Rev. Dabney was an ordained Missionary Baptist minister for over 50 years, pastoring at both the Athens and Victory Missionary Baptist Churches. He was a member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church, Newport, MI and a past member of Yondota Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Juanita; son, Charles (Teresa) Dabney; daughter, Carol (Jerry) Goad; sisters, Anna Beaumont, Marie Frank; grandchildren, Gerald and Gregory Goad, Diana Custer, Mandy, Katelyn and Sara Dabney; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Dabney.. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Athens Missionary Baptist Church, 101 W. Breckman Street, Walbridge on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Dewey's memory can be made to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church Visitation: 2:00 - 9:00 PM Friday Services: 101 W. Breckman Street Walbridge, Ohio 2:00 PM Saturday
