Rev. Lawrence Strong, 84, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on January 18, 2011 at Regency Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born on February 10, 1926 to Sam and Leatha Strong. Lawrence served in the Army during WWII. After attending Dayton Bible School, Lawrence spent his life ministering to others. He was a founding member and pastor at Calvary Open Bible Church in Dayton, Ohio for 43 years, and for the past 11 years ministered to the seniors and shut-ins at Heritage Christian Church in Oregon, Ohio. Lawrence enjoyed hiking, walking, golf and fishing and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; sons, Rev. Stephen L. (Gina M.) of Lebanon, Oh., Rev. Philip A. (Lynette) of Plain, Wa.; step-children, Charles T. (Bryn) Perry of Waukesha, WI., Debra L. (David) Cloud of Oregon, Oh.; brothers, Ray, Sam, Orin, Charles and Gerald; sisters, Pat, Dee and Jenny; 4 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mildred; siblings, Lloyd, Mildred, Bonnie and Emma.
Friends and family may visit at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon, Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Christian Church, 1640 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio where family will greet visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Xenia, Ohio. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Lawrence'™s name are asked to consider Heritage Christian Church or Solid Rock Church.
