Rev. Orville M. Awe, 90, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, May 3, 2006 in the Lutheran Home at Toledo. He was born in Napoleon, OH on November 30, 1915 to Benjamin and Eunice (Shelt) Awe. Orville was a graduate of Napoleon High School. He would later graduate from the Bible Holiness Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology degree. On June 20, 1942 he married Dorothy George. His pastorates included churches in Athens, Bowersville, Bradford, Port Clinton and Jackson Ohio. He would serve as the District Superintendent in Ohio from 1960 to 1963 and as Illinois District Superintendent from 1967 to 1975. Rev. Awe retired in 1981 after 38 years in the ministry.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy; daughter, Deborah (Ronald) Jurski; son, Dean (Elizabeth) Awe; sister, Thema George and grandchildren, Carrie and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell and Meredith Awe; sisters, Marilyn Awe and Virginia Chatfield.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Sunday from 2 until 9 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the Lutheran Home of Toledo Chapel where visitation will be from 9:30 am until services time. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wesleyan Church.
