Rex M. Groll, 29, of Oregon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 1, 1989 to Michael and Roberta (Ruby) Groll. Rex was a standout baseball player at Clay High School helping his team to City League Championships as well as District Champs. After graduating high school Rex went on to Owens Community College and then to The University of Toledo where he would obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Communication. He had a great passion for baseball and continued his playing career in wooden bat leagues and eventually took his talents to the softball field. He was well known in the competitive softball community and would win 2 Worlds during his playing career. Rex would pass on his knowledge and love of the game to many young athletes in the area. He started his coaching career at Clay High School and eventually was named the Varsity baseball coach for Northwood High School. Rex loved the Green Bay Packers, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that would light up any room he walked into. He cherished his family and friends who are all going to miss him so deeply.
Rex is survived by his mother, Robbie Groll; father, Michael (Violet Gaddis) Groll; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, loving family members, friends; girlfriend, Liz Tighe, special cousin, Lindsay Kurpes; best friend, Justin Taylor; step-sisters, Laurie (Chad) Grimm and Carol (Shawn) Lucal . He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Captain John (Ruth) Ruby and Gene (Elnore) Groll.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 2-9. Celebration of life will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy in Rex's name may be directed to Charity of Donor's Choice.
