Rhea R. Davies, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at The Gardens of St. Francis. She was born in Bono to Leslie and Elizabeth (Radsick) Rought.
A proud 1955 graduate of Clay High School, Rhea built a life centered on family, friendship, hard work, and enjoying the simple pleasures life had to offer. Alongside her husband, John, she proudly owned and operated J&R Corner Bar, where countless friendships were formed and many lasting memories were made over the years.
Rhea was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 9816 and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.
She had a passion for travel and adventure, especially enjoying trips to Alaska, Las Vegas, and Nashville. Some of her happiest times were spent "up north" with her special friend, Gene, creating cherished memories together. Rhea especially loved visiting Douglas Lake, where she found peace, quiet, and comfort in nature.
A longtime fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Rhea rarely missed a game and always enjoyed cheering on her favorite team. She also loved watching NASCAR races and was an enthusiastic fan of Jeff Gordon.
Rhea will be remembered for her warmth, loyalty, sense of humor, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who shared in her life's journey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Randy (Deb) Mottmiller, Keith "Butch" (Katie) Mottmiller, Patti (Mike) Mahoney, and Larry (Sheila) Mottmiller; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special friend, Gene Hagedorn; as well as many stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John F. Davies and Clarence Mottmiller; and sister, Pat Bullock.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home - Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m.
Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Rhea's memory are asked to consider Elara Caring Hospice or The Gardens of St. Francis.
