Rick A. Fox, 54, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2015. He was born on September 23, 1960 in Oregon, Ohio to Richard and Flora (Smith). Rick was a 1978 graduate of Waite High School and went on to be a Boilermaker with Local 85, where he took great pride in working for the past 35 years. On November 28, 1980 he married the love of his life, LuAnn and never hesitated to tell people that they had been married for 34 years. Rick was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. His grandchildren were the light of his life and brought out his inner child. He never turned down the call of "Chase me Papa Rick!" He was a respected co-worker who was known as "Rippin Rick" by those who worked along side him. Rick loved going to the casino with his wife LuAnn. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing on Lake Erie and the Maumee River.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, LuAnn; children, Jessica (Brent) Shimman, Ricky (Sarah) Fox; grandchildren, Eli, Izzy, Emily Shimman, Leah and Brady Fox; parents, Dick and Flo; mother-in-law, Gladys; sister, Denise (Todd) Sprague; brother-in-law, Ric Mauder; several in-laws, nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Mauder and Dianna Fox; and father-in-law, Gene Shrewsbery.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Epiphany of the Lord – St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 729 White St., Toledo on Monday at 11:00 a.m. The family will begin greeting guests in the church at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Rick's name are asked to consider Helping Hands of St. Louis or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
