Richard C. Achter, 72 of Oregon, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 28, 1934 to Carl and Jean (Eugster) Achter. On November 1, 1959 he joined the Toledo Police Force. After 33 years of being a police officer Dick retired on December 18, 1992. Dick was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Toledo Lodge #40, also a State Trustee for FOP for 8 years and a member of the Command Officers Association. Dick also was a stone cutter and carver for Toledo Cut Stone.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Karen (Ed) Johansen, Connie (James) Lind, Merry Achter, Timothy (Nancy), Rodney (Cindy) Roger (Maryann) Achter; grandchildren, James Lind Jr., Nicole (Vincent) Herrera, Erin (Ian) Williamson, Andrea, Kristen Johansen, Amanda, A.J., Austin, Andrew, Courtney, Dustin, Todd, Cody, Katie, Susan, Jessica (Bubba), Ross Achter; sisters, Eleanor Kretz, Debbie(Ron) Deck. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ken, and brothers, Dale, Robert, Jerry.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, Ohio on Wednesday from 12 noon-9 p.m with The Fraternal Order of Police service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Dick's memory are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
