Obituary

Richard Joseph Askins Sr. 69, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away, Monday, November 19, 2012 in his residence. Richard was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 21, 1943 to Otis and Irene (Kovach) Askins. Richard graduated in 1969 from Eastwood High School. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran serving in both the Vietnam War and the Cuban Crisis. He has been employed for the past 24 years with Chrysler Jeep. Prior he had worked for E&C Machine, Libbey Glass and Wheaton Fine Glass where he was a supervisor. In his earlier years, Richard owned and operated D & M Tackle, which sold his invention the Rapid-tube Lure. Surviving are his loving wife of almost 50 years, Judie; children Phoenicia (Terry) Klostermeier, Candius (Tony) Agby, Richard J. Askins Jr., Kish-La Askins, Shawn Askins; grandchildren, Kami, Anthony, Karisa, Ginger; great granddaughter, Aubrey; sisters, Carol York and Patricia LaHote; his loving canine, Angelo. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25 from 1pm until 7 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel. 440 S. Coy Road and where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Fort Meigs Cemetery.
