Obituary

Richard James Baker, 63, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, January 26, 2006, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Dick was born in Fremont, Ohio on January 2, 1943, to Charles Miller and Bonita (Jaisler) Baker Hathaway. He graduated from Clay High School with the class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. In 1964, he married Sandra Baker, they later divorced, and she survives. He worked in the construction and maintenance fields. He was a member of the International Operation of Engineers Union and also a member of the Rossford F.O.E. 2322. He retired in 2003, due to disability. Dick had been a friend of Bill W. since 1981. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes and the University of Toledo football teams. An avid reader and Civil War and plane buff, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Steven) Pachasa of Fowlerville, MI; son, William (Karma) Baker of Lambertville, MI; special friend, Marge; his beloved dog, Justie; brothers, Ronald of Gibsonburg, David of Genoa; sisters, Mary Hicks of Lima, Barbara Hall of Mansfield, Carol "Bonnie" Baker of Perrysburg, Kathy Lovins of Rossford, Brenda Dolweck of Cambridge, OH. Papa will be missed by his five grandchildren, Derrick, Neil, Evan, Katrina, and Serena "Rosey"; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, James "Kermit" Hathaway; a brother, Charles Larry Baker and long time companion, Carol (Miller) Kramer. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-9 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, and where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
