Richard Earl Baumbach, 85, of Northwood, OH passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2005 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born in Oil City, PA on June 5, 1920 to Earl and Clara (Rembold) Baumbach. Richard served as 1st lieutenant Company Commander for the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was a Lake Township Trustee from 1985-89 and a Lake Local School Board member from 1969-1976. Richard was a member of the National Management Assoc., an associate member of the County Engineers Association, and a member of the Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio, Wood County and of the Ohio State Trustees Association. He was an active charter member since 1966 of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Christ Dunberger Post 537. Mr. Baumbach is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosalie; sons, Gary of Northwood and Jon (Valerie) of Lake Township; daughters, Marilyn (Frank) Knisely of Northwood and Marlene LaChine of Oregon; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Angie) Knisely of Northwood, Bradley (Wendy) Knisely of Northwood, Michelle (Scott) Loch of Lake Township, Staff ergeant Lonnie (Heidi) LaChine of Montana, Monica Knisely of Toledo and Jessica, Craig and Kately Baumbach of Lake Township. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Randy DeLuca Jr., Dallas, Austin, Nevada and Nolan Knisely; Jacob and Trevor Knisely; Mariah Ward, Skylar Evans and Lonnie Jr. and Lacy LaChine. Richard is also survived by his brother, Rev. Ralph Baumbach of Stoughton, WI; sister, Dorothy Balthaser of Westerville, OH and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws, Richard Balthaser and Carl Wilson, son-in-law, William LaChine and one nephew. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home Millbury Chapel 1111 Woodville Rd. Millbury, OH on Tuesday from 4-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-9 pm with Dunberger services at 7 pm.. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1930 Bradner Rd. Northwood, OH with interment to follow in Lake Township Cemetery.. Memorial contributions may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church for their planned shelter house.
