Richard C. Counterman, "Mr. Bones" 85, of Oregon, Ohio, formerly of Millbury, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Richard was born December 31, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to James and Adeline (Meier). In 1956, he graduated from Waite High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. On April 21, 1979, he married Marjorie Ellen Glass. Mr. Counterman was employed with Owens Illinois & Libbey Glass 34 years, retiring in 1993. He later owned and operated a flea market in Genoa, Ohio. Richard was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, and enjoyed camping with his family at Paradise Acres. A lifelong musician, he played guitar, banjo, and bones known to many as "Mr. Bones". Memberships included: First St. John Lutheran Church and South Side Sportsman Club.

Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie; children, Richard (Sheila) Counterman, Dennis Counterman, Mark (Beth) Counterman, Michelle (Greg) Wiciak, Guy (Brenda) Clough, and Thomas Clough; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Karen) Counterman, and Peggy Counterman. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James Counterman, Robert Counterman, and Judy Brewer; and grandson, Thomas Clough Jr.

The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280), Monday, January 9, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Interment: Clay Township Cemetery.
